Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper

I went to a booksale and I got into trouble. A whole bookbag of trouble. About $40 worth of trouble. But look at all the lovely books I added to my shelf!

Including this edition of Etta and Otto and Russell and James by Emma Hooper, which I first read two years ago and which has stuck with me. Heartbreak! Wartime romance! Old lady being a total determined kick-ass heroine! Old man learning to make bread! A coyote!

In my previous kick at the blogosphere, I celebrated its opening lines and talked about its many covers, including this one. (This copy is slightly disfigured by an absurd amount of sale stickers, but not for long.)
