We’re All in This Together by Amy Jones

I checked this handsome beast out of the library in the last week of August and really, really hoped that I could get to it before the new school year punched me in the gut. Unfortunately, the new school year won, and poor Amy Jones went back to the library.

This novel was recommended to me by my pal Mel, who has excellent taste in books and is my best friend in all of Saskatchewan. From what I gather, it’s a topsy-turvy tale of family squabbling and shenanigans, which sounds like the perfect thing to pick up in the last week of August. And if Mel’s recommendation isn’t enough, it was also a book that Costco decided was prestigious enough to stock, and then it was shortlisted for the Stephen Leacock Memorial Medal for Humour. I’m still planning on getting to it one day – maybe over Christmas break, when I’m done being punched in the gut? – because when Mel and Costco and Stephen Leacock agree on something, you know it’s gotta be good.
