What the Soul Doesn’t Want by Lorna Crozier

I read my first Lorna Crozier collection – The Wrong Cat – about a year ago. Did I pick it up just because it had “cat” in the title? Maybe. Did I fall deeply in love with Crozier’s imagery and voice? Definitely.

I was super excited to find out she was releasing another collection this year, called What the Soul Doesn’t Want. I asked my library to buy it, and they did, but before it could hit the shelves I got impatient and bought my own copy.

Good thing, too, because I love it even more than The Wrong Cat. I never thought I’d read a long poem about cockroaches that spoke to me, but Lorna Crozier wrote one, and I can’t stop thinking about it.
