Something From the Nightside by Simon R. Green

This is one of those guilty-pleasure books – the kind that turns your brain a little bit to mush and isn’t written particularly well and is rife with gaping plot holes and cliches… and yet dang it if it’s not a weirdly entertaining time.

I bought a copy to read while travelling last month because there’s something about being on a plane that makes me want to ingest something a little trashy. Pick up this hard-bitten noir demonblood detective, pair with a bag of Bugles, and settle in to ignore the crying baby across the aisle and the middle-aged white man trying to steal your goddamn armrest for the next five hours.
